Data protection and privacy policy for Kognita Edu application

1. Introduction

Welcome to data protection & privacy policies for Kognita Edu, an application managed by Kognita sp. z o.o. (“us,” “our” or “we”). Protecting your privacy is our top priority, so we are committed to protecting your personal information.

This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share and protect your information when you use our application, Kognita Edu (the “Application”).

It also defines your rights in accordance with Meta’s policies and applicable laws, including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

By using our Application, you accept the terms and conditions set forth in this policy. If you do not agree with them, please stop using our services.

3 What kind of data do we collect?

We may collect and process the following categories of data when you use Kognita Edu:

  • Personal information: name, email address, phone number, account information and other data provided during registration.

  • Usage data: app interactions, session time, preferences, in-app activities and behaviors.

  • Device information: device type, operating system, browser type, IP address and application diagnostics.

  • Meta data and integrations: if you use the Meta Quest Store services, we may collect data required by the Meta Developers Privacy Policy.

4 Legal basis for data processing

We process your data on the basis of:

  • Necessary for the performance of the contract (Article 6(1)(b) of the DPA) – in order to provide services and perform the contract.

  • Legitimate legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f) RODO) – to improve service quality, ensure security and prevent fraud.

  • Consent (Article 6(1)(a) RODO) – for optional services, such as marketing.

  • Legal obligations (Article 6(1)(c) RODO) – if the law requires data processing.

5. How do we use your data?

We use the collected data to:

  • Ensure the operation of the Application: personalization, technical support.

  • Improving user experience: analyzing data to improve features.

  • Communication with you: notifications, service updates.

  • Marketing (with permission): informing about new products and offers.

  • Meet legal requirements: compliance with RODO regulations and Meta policies.

  • As long as you have an active account in Kognita Edu.

  • For the period required by law (e.g., taxes, legal claims).

After these periods, the data will be securely deleted or anonymized.

  • Correcting your data.

  • Deletion of data (“right to be forgotten”).

  • Processing Restrictions.

  • Data transfers.

  • Objection to processing.

  • Withdraw consent at any time.

9. Privacy of children

Kognita Edu is not intended for children under the age of 13. If we become aware of unauthorized collection of children’s data, we will delete it immediately.

10. Automatic decision-making

We do not use automated decision-making or profiling based on your data.

11 Security measures

We use strict technical and organizational data protection measures, including encryption, secure storage and limited access.

12 Transfer of data outside the EEA

If data is transferred outside the European Economic Area (EEA), we provide:

  • An adequate level of data protection or

  • Standard Contract Clauses (SCC).

13. Changes to the Privacy Policy

We may update the Privacy Policy due to changes in law or data processing practices. We will notify you of changes by application or email.
